Episode 84: the capacity for courage

“Safe writing is boring writing. When the writing is good, it reveals to us our capacity for courage.”

Micheline Aharonian Marcom has been writing beautiful, courageous, award-winning novels for over twenty years. Her latest book, The New American, comes out next month. One of the great gifts she has given to her students is to teach them to write with courage, too. On today's Story Saturday, Laura reflects on why the lessons Micheline taught her more than fourteen years ago are still with her today, and what she continues to learn from Micheline about our capacity for courage.
