Episode 90: real patriotism

“Real patriotism is where you're putting in the hard work to make your country better. Whether it's military service or, marching for civil rights or community service, you're actually doing something.”

On this Independence Day, Air Force veteran Tino Dinh talks about patriotism, and why he thinks it should be an inclusive term.

Tino is the child of refugees who nearly died when they fled Saigon during the Vietnam war. He's spent most of his life serving this country--both in the Air Force and as a management consultant who advocates for veterans' benefits and solves problems in what he calls "the plumbing and the guts of the government."
